Dance practices

Our next Thriller dance class is scheduled for Saturday, Sept 5 from 5:00pm to 7:30pm.

The class will be held at 1311 Miller Road in Coral Gables (33146). This is the Student Lounge at the Univ of Miami School of Law.

If this is the first class you attend, please bring comfortable clothes and shoes to move in, water to drink and $1 (and the registration form if you printed it out from the link on the right, if not, don't worry, I will give you one when you get here).

If you have been to a class before and are comfortable with the 8 sections, feel free to skip the beginning and come towards the end of the class (6:45ish) where we will put it all together.

If you've got a sponsorship/pledge form that's complete, please bring that with you too.

No previous dance experience necessary. You don't have to be a good dancer (zombies are not good dancers). Don't worry if you missed the other practices. We teach all the steps at each practice so you only have to come to one.

Please email me (or RSVP on the Facebook event page) if you are coming so I can get an idea of how many people are going to be there.

We have a venue!

I'm super happy to announce that we officially have a venue for Thrill Miami now!

The Thrill The World Miami event will be held:

On the bricks at The University of Miami School of Law (in the courtyard).

Rain or shine, we're zombie-ing it up and Thrilling the U.

As an alumni of UM, I'm very proud and excited to be holding the event there.

Go Canes!...what can I say? we're awesome.

A note from our DJ:

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Juan Zafra also known as DJ LS. I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to be the DJ for the event held in Miami. I am a big Michael Jackson Fan and admire everything he has done. I believe Thrill The World is an extraordinary event considering the logistics involved while at the same time supporting and helping our communities world wide! I can't wait until Oct 24th, 2009 so that we may make history. I know our event in Miami will be a huge success and our zombies are usually the best, considering some of the best dancers originate from South Florida. Again I am honored and very thankful for the opportunity. I am posting a link to a tribute mix I made of Michael's top hits, all original tracks. It's free to download and listen. Enjoy and see you Oct 24th.

Interested in sponsoring our event?

ABOUT THRILL THE WORLD
Thrill the World was started by Ines Markelle in Canada in 2006. It is the annual worldwide dance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller for records and charity. A tribute to Michael Jackson since 2006. Last year, they set a new world record with the Record Holders Republic, with 4,179 people from 10 nations simultaneously performing the Thriller dance. This year, Miami is joining in on the fun. We will be dressing like zombies and dancing like Michael to raise funds for a local no-kill animal shelter.

RETURN
We are bringing in 50 or more dancers who are dressing in zombie costumes and attending the event at Mary Brickell Village the weekend before Halloween. While we expect a majority of those in attendance to be in their 30s, there will be a variety of demographics. The audience would be interested in trips, going out, costuming, Halloween events, spa treatments and other such items.

Get sponsored to be a zombie!

If you would like to make this like a dance-a-thon and have people sponsor you to do the Thriller dance, I've made a form that you can use for that. It is available for download by clicking here (scroll down and click on free download).

Preferably you should collect all your pledged donations in advance and bring the form and the donations with you to the event or to one of the dance practices.

Thanks for helping us raise money for The Smile Train and The United Way!
